New TravelPod Homepage
The new TravelPod homepage was launched today. It’s a long awaited overhaul and greatly simplifies ease of use (hopefully) … and it’s pretty.
Let me know what you think by responding to this blog post or emailing me.
Cheers,
Shaun

I miss the “Random Traveler” or “Random Blog” aspect of the old homepage.

Hey there!
Congratulations on the new design. I personally think its very appealing to the eye, and much in favour of the new resolution the front page is designed in.
The only suggestion I would make would be to advertise somewhere on the page a link to the the top 100 monthly & all time Travel Journal favourites. As this would be easy access for an internet user thats after a good read, from which the travelpod community recommends.

I love the redecoration! It certainly looks more appealing and has a younger feel to it. I was just wondering what is going to happen with the Top 5 travel blogs and the link to the Top 100 travel blogs. Also, is the same template going to be merged for the rest of the site, or is this only for the homepage? Congrats on the new look!

The plan is to slowly start reworking more pages with some more modern and easier to use designs. The homepage was our first target.
You can still get to the Top Travel Blogs in the Quick Links section.
Cheers!

I would like to see a rankings list for Canadians playing ” How well do you know your world?”

Nice one personaly i thought the old style homepage was slightly dated, “recent trips ” grabs your attention straight away on the new homepage ,but saying that when i came upon travelpod by chance i dived right into the “top tens” and those blogs made me realize just what travelpod is about
keep on keeping on

Just wondering about the featured trips section in the middle. It seems to have been the same for about a week, whereas on the old site it would change daily? I might be wrong.

A new featured trip is added to the list of featured trips every 3 days.

I’m sure you have noticed the drastic drop off in forum activity. The new page is not friendly at all to the forum. My opinion is it’s much less appealing to the infrequent visitor. Just providing a link isn’t enough. From a marketing aspect you have to offer more than lists and options. You need to grab the visitor right away. The old design did this in a much better job.

Alex, we’ve added a small widget on the right-hand side of the homepage promoting the forums. Thanks for your feedback!
